All About Clase Azul Tequila
Clase Azul Tequila is the kind of spirit that collectors love and people invest in. It's what many would consider luxury tequila—a brand known as much for its flavor and quality as it is for the exquisite decanters they come in.
At
The Liquor Store
in Buffalo Way, Jackson, WY, we're proud to offer this exceptional tequila to our local customers and tequila enthusiasts.Â
The Origin and Story of Clase Azul
Arturo Lomeli founded Clase Azul Tequila in 1997 at the age of 23 while running a bar in Guadalajara. This wasn't his first attempt at creating a tequila brand. In fact, he had previously tried to launch one with a friend. That initial venture didn't take off—the product was packaged with a gimmicky sombrero and mustache design that, according to Lomeli himself, was "terrible" and failed to connect with consumers.
Lomeli was confident in the quality of his product and realized that what he needed was a deeper understanding of branding and the market that he wanted to enter. To that end, Lomeli decided to return to school to study marketing. At this point, he realized that to stand out in a crowded tequila market, he needed a product that not only tasted exceptional but also authentically represented Mexican culture.
With this fresh perspective, Lomeli envisioned a tequila that represented the rich traditions of Mexico authentically. He focused on creating a unique bottle—a decanter that was a piece of art in itself. Drawing inspiration from traditional Mexican pottery, he began selling his tequila in handcrafted ceramic bottles, featuring intricate designs that celebrated the country's heritage.
No Two Clase Tequila Bottles Are the Same
In the small village of Santa MarÃa Canchesda, located in the heart of Mexico, a community of artisans brings these bottles to life. Using clay sourced from the local area, they begin by molding each bottle by hand. This isn't a rushed process; it takes patience and skill to shape the clay into the elegant forms that Clase Azul is known for.
Each bottle is meticulously hand-painted, often featuring intricate designs and patterns that reflect Mexico's rich cultural heritage. No two bottles are exactly alike, which makes each one special. Some bottles receive additional touches, like decorative metal agave medallions or hand-tied ribbons. These details add to the uniqueness and collectibility of each decanter.
Creating a single Clase Azul bottle can take up to two weeks. It's a labor-intensive process that supports local artisans and keeps traditional techniques alive. When you purchase a bottle of clase azul lets you invest in a piece of Mexican art and culture and it’s one of the most distinctive aspects of this brand.
